Jacob Philip Craig!!!!

Yes, We finally have a name! We both have been struggling with this decision for months now, and we both had strong opinions....bet you can't believe that! :) Jason and I both liked traditional names, and Jason prefers short names which is how we finally settled on Jacob. Also, I wanted to include a name from someone in the family that is special to us in our kids names. Jason's grandpa, "Big Daddy," is Philip Morgan Cobb, and they are very close.  We are both excited to use his name in our son's name, and hope that he will someday have share some of Bid Daddy's qualities.

This weekend we traveled to Oklahoma City for Jason's youngest brother's high school graduation. It was great to be able to most of Jason's family at the graduation party! It is hard to believe that Chase was in the second grade when Jason and I started dating and now high school graduation! WOW! The graduation ceremony was downtown in Oklahoma City, and happened to be the same time as the big OKC-Thunder/Memphis-Grizzlies championship NBA game! It has been years since I have walked around downtown, and was very impressed with how clean and nice the city is! After the graduation, we stopped at a park and snapped some pictures of the graduate.

Sam wanted to come with us!

Chase and Big Daddy. I LOVE this picture! Chase did not want his picture taken... And, Big Daddy was telling him to cooperate! :)

After the graduation, I was able to spend some time with my mom. We went to Target and checked out the baby stuff there, and made a trip to Braum's! YUM!! A visit to Braum's is always a highlight to any OKC trip! The backyard and pond was looking so pretty, so we thought a picture by the pond was a good idea!

My Mom and me... (Check the bump too!)

Jason and I have been shopping all over town (2x - OKC and Memphis) and have finished our registry! Yay! That was such a huge job... with so many decisions -- which of the 50 different types of bottles, pacifiers, or butt paste is the best???!! Who knew deciding on butt paste could be such a chore. After checking with several friends who are new mothers, I used their recommendations or registered for several options. They have all told me that each baby is different with different preferences on somethings. I have also read about all the consumersearch.com and consumerreports.com reviews on strollers, car seats, play yards, video monitors and pretty much all the big items... Whoa! With all of this research I feel like quite the expert on the different products available and what the pros, cons, and price difference is on each of them.

Last week, I noticed my blood pressure was a little elevated so I called the OB to let her know. She had me come by the office, and checked my blood pressure and lab work. All of my lab work was okay, but she did have to start me on some medicine to help control my blood pressure -- ACK! She also wanted to see a week later (yesterday) to an extra ultrasound to see how Baby Jacob is doing. Jason and I went to the OB yesterday, and seeing his little face and hands already makes my heart melt. I am not sure how you can love something so much that isn't even here yet... But, I DO! Anyway, the doctor is a little concerned about my blood pressure, and concerned about it affecting his growth... They are going to see me back in another week, and do another ultrasound. All of this has made me even more anxious and nervous ... We are just praying that they are able to get my blood pressure under control and Baby Jacob makes it here healthy and safe. Here are a couple of pictures from the ultrasound... We only got two pictures this time, and it was a relatively short ultrasound. Baby Jacob was head down the entire time, and had his hands covering his face... Stinker! He weighed 1 lb 13 oz and his heart rate was 150 bpm.
His head is at the top of the picture. It is a profile picture of his face with his hand blocking our view!

This one is kind of creepy looking... It is a profile shot of his face and his right hand is right above his nose... you can
also barely see his left ear!
Baby Jacob's Development this week:
The baby is now about 15" long and just over 2 pounds most likely, although all babies are in a rapid growth spurt from now until birth, their growth rate will begin to reflect their individuality.
As this week marks the end of the second trimester, the baby's chances of survival if born at this time are good, around 85%, although serious complications may still occur.
Sensory development is becoming sharper, with sounds not only being received by baby but now recognized as well, especially the voices of you and your partner, so be sure to take advantage and read and sing to the little one and prepare for all the story and music time to come! The sounds are muffled much like when you swim underwater and hear voices around you.
The baby's eyes are opening even wider and can now distinguish between darkness and light. The retinas have formed.
The baby also now has a regular sleep schedule, which may have been influenced by yours, but could be distinctly his or her own.
One bothersome activity: hiccupping. While it may drive you crazy at times, it doesn't seem to bother baby much. It's connected to the lung maturity and more swallowing/breathing activity.
Baby's sense of taste is also becoming more sensitive and baby will react to strong tastes from spicier foods you eat, which flavor the amniotic fluid.

I have noticed Baby Jacob's hiccups! It is always a good opportunity for other's to feel him move. Jacob's Uncle Chase was able to feel Jacob's hiccups while we were in OKC. He thought it was funny and was convinced he was passing gas rather than hiccupping! :)

Here are some updated baby bump pictures that I took today... My belly still isn't huge but my belly button is almost an OUTTIE!!

YIKES! It may need a bandaid to hold it in after another 13 weeks!

Definitely a BUMP! You still can't tell much in my scrubs, but it's there!
So, this week is just waiting and praying ... I will try to post an update after my ultrasound and other tests next Wednesday.
