14 Weeks... Boy or Girl? Any Bets?

I cannot believe how quickly this pregnancy is flying by! We still have not made any progress on names, nursery designs, etc...  I have felt great and haven't had any morning sickness to speak of. I have noticed that I am unable to eat as much in one sitting. I have always been known for gobbling lots of food in a very short amount of time, but I have just been unable to eat my usual quantity. I have to to resort to eating snacks throughout the day with smaller meals. I still have gained very little weight, and do not have much of a bump. I have noticed that my belly starts the day pretty much flat, but by bedtime I look like I have a definite baby bump.

I am so anxious to find out if it is a boy or a girl! My doctor will not be performing my routine ultrasound until almost 20 weeks. I think I'll go crazy waiting another month and a half!! I think I have Jason talked into to doing a 4D ultrasound in Oklahoma City in a few weeks. That way our family can be with us when we find out what IT is! Also, it will be fun to find out a little bit earlier and get to see the baby in 4D! I'm excited...Now hopefully we can coordinate our schedules to make a trip to OKC!

If you are wondering what is happening with B.C. - This week's big developments: B.C. can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his (or her) thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his (or her) facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His (or her) kidneys are producing urine, which he (or she) releases into the amniotic fluid around him (or her) — a process he'll (she'll) keep up until birth.
From head to bottom, he (or she) measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he (or she) weighs 1 1/2 ounces. His (or Her) body's growing faster than his (or her) head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, his (or her) arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of his body. (His (or her) legs still have some lengthening to do.) He's (or She's) starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over his (or her) body. Your baby's liver starts making bile this week — a sign that it's doing its job right — and his (or her) spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells. Though you can't feel his tiny punches and kicks yet, your little pugilist's hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active.

Here are some pictures of my belly this morning...

  2. Boy or girl...either one will be wonderful. But my intuition tells me this first one might be a little girl. Nancy Ladd
